So, you've taken the leap, and ordered a luscious JFD gown.....what next? 
Once your order is confirmed, we need your measurements in order to get started. You can either call in to the studio for this, or you may prefer to save yourself a special trip by completing our online form, which includes a nifty little diagram to demonstrate exactly which measurements are required.

Approximately 4-6 weeks after receiving measurements, your first toile will be ready to try on. A toile is a rough mock-up of the design, usually made up in calico or some other basic fabric which is similar in weight to the suggested material for your chosen style. This enables us to check the detail of the design, and allows plenty of opportunity for the style to be adjusted until it is just right for you.  

If necessary the toile is then tweaked or re-made to reflect the desired adjustments. A second toile fitting means we can ensure that all is as it should be, and it is only when you are happy with the toile that you make your final choice of fabrics, and we move in to the fittings of the real thing.

At the first silk fitting, the 'shell' of the dress is now ready to try on. It will be unlined at this stage, but it will start to give you a real feel for how the end result will look. 
The fit of your dress can be tweaked at this point, and also it will be much easier to make decisions on the extent and type of embellishment......those little details that really bring the design to life!


At the second 'silk' fitting, the dress will essentially be finished, and on occasion is ready to take away......but more normally there will still be one or two final tweaks to be done to get that perfect finish before collection.

All dresses are provided with a full-length hanging dress bag which is ideal for both transporting your precious cargo, and also for storing it. For destination weddings we also offer on request to carefully pack your gown in tissue paper in a special box of the required 'carry-on' dimensions for your airline.
